How the ranking works

For every round: pen chance comes from the datamined formula at your target durability; shots to break simulates wearing the plate down with that round's production armor damage; expected damage per hit blends penetrations (with the reduction factor) and blunt damage. Sort priority is penetration chance, with armor shredding deciding ties, exactly the order the model considers for first contact.

Frequently asked questions

What does the solver actually rank?

Every round in a caliber (or all calibers) is scored against your stated target: penetration chance at full durability, shots-to-break, and expected damage per hit while retaining bullets. The result table shows each round on all three axes so you can pick for your priorities, first-shot kill, armor shredding, or budget.

Pen chance vs shots-to-break, which matters more?

Depends on engagement style. High-pen rounds win first contact (bolt actions, careful aim). High-armor-damage rounds win spray downs, they chew the plate so your later rounds (and your teammate's) penetrate. The solver notably includes rounds with lower pen but strong armor damage when shots-to-break is your goal.

Why do budget rounds still show up?

Because armor damage and cost matter. A cheap round with decent armor damage can be the correct answer against mid-tier kits when you are spraying; the solver shows the trade-offs instead of hiding them behind a single score.

What about leg meta / unarmored targets?

Set the armor class to "none" and the ranking flips to raw damage, which is exactly the leg-meta logic: the highest-damage cheap rounds win when nothing is armored. The solver covers both cases in one place.
